Kelvedon Hatch travelled to Faces on a bright but blustery Saturday afternoon for this their first league game of the new season.
The Hatch started slowly defending against the wind with the sun in their eyes. On 8 mins the first chance of the match fell to Dan Demetriou who was put throiugh on gaoal but he shot wide. On 11 mins good work down the right by Demetriou who passed to Nick Pegg who shot wide. On 14 mins a shot by from the edge of the box by Faces brought out a good save by the Hatch keeper, Danny Fenn. The game was pretty even for the next period but on 26 mins Demetriou was fouled on the edge of the box. The free kick rebounded to Sam Raven who slammed the ball home, 0-1. On 34 mins a great shot from distance by Faces hit the bar and away to safety. On 41 mins a Faces defender handeled the ball in the area. Demetriou calmy placed the ball on the spot and slotted home, 0-2.
The Hatch started the second half with the wind behind and it was not long before Faces conceded yet another free kick on the edge of their area, Adam Hunt shot just past the post. On 49 mins after good work down the left the ball fell to James Burt who slotted home, 0-3. On 58 mins another free kick for the Hatch saw Pegg shoot straight at their keeper. On 63 mins good work by the Faces centre forward saw him find space in the Hatch box but he shot wide. On 64 mins good work by Steve Merrick saw him shoot, bringing out a good save by the Faces keeper. On 69 mins Burt intercepetd a Faces pass and he calmly slotted past the advancing Faces keeper, 0-4. On 75 mins Chris Wolff relaced James Burt and on 80 mins Martin Hunt replaced Sam Raven. On 83 mins a great dummy by Craig Cripps saw the ball bounce kindly to Demetriou who chipped their advancing keeper with ease to score, 0-5.
The travelling Hatch supporters had seen a good display from their team despite having quite a few players missing on the day.
