Kelvedon Hatch travelled to Galleywood on a calm and bright Wednesday evening for Nick Staggs last game in charge of the Hatch.

Hatch started brightly kicking up the slope and it was Danny Dow who had the first chance but headed over the bar from a Kevin Marsden cross from the right. On 6 mins Michael Palmieri collected a loose ball and his shot at goal appeared to be handled out for a corner. The Hatch kept the pressure on Galleywood without creating any chances until the 17th min when Ross Wall miss kicked his shot wide after good work between Marsden and James Burt. On 21 mins Burt passed Wall whose cross come shot was well saved by their keeper who parried the ball out but no Hatch player was following up. On 22 mins Dow passed to Wall in space but his first time shot was straight at their keeper. On 24 mins Burt chased a long ball only to be beaten to it by their keeper. On 25 mins Marsden put Burt through, who showed good skills but his shot was somehow cleared to safety by a Galleywood defender. Minutes later Garry Smith passed to Dow whose shot was parried and Wall was following up to slot home, 0-1. On 31 mins Nick Pegg played a great through ball to Wall but their keeper headed clear. On 33 mins Dow headed just wide a Smith cross. On 36 mins Mitchell Evans headed a Pegg corner into their keepers arms. On 43 mins Marsden shot inches wide after a Pegg corner fell kindly to him. 0-1 at the half time whistle.

Galleywood started the second half brightly and the alert Michael Bowditch, the Hatch keeper, palmed over a speculative shot on 48 mins. On 54 mins Wall was brought down in the Galleywood box, penalty, Smith placed the ball on the spot but had his shot saved by their keeper diving to his left. On 57 mins a Galleywood forward shot inches wide of the Hatch upright. Dow then had a 50/50 chance to score but it was cleared to safety somehow. On 59 mins Bowditch saved well under pressure. Greig Taylor replaced Dow on 60 mins. Seconds later Taylor shot over the bar from within the six yard after great work by Smith. Sam Raven replaced Burt on 72 mins. On 73 mins a Galleywood free kick, from outside the box, was well saved by Bowditch. On 76 mins after some good footwork by Taylor, Wall turned and shot just inches wide. On 80 mins Wall turned his defender inside out only to see his shot well saved by their keeper and out for a corner. Seconds later their keeper parried a shot from Wall, it fell to the feet of Taylor who made no after rounding their keeper to slot home, 0-2. On 83 mins Taylor mesmerised their defenders as he waltzed down the right wing before crossing to Wall who slammed the ball home from close range, 0-3. Nick Stagg replaced Marsden on 85 mins. On 86 mins Taylor broke free down the right, crossed into Wall but his shot was well saved by their keeper. In added time Raven slotted home from within the six yard box after a good cross by Taylor from the right and the final action of the season, 0-4.

The travelling Hatch fans had seen their side win their last game of the season by playing some entertaining football on a very bobbly surface that was not conducive to Hatch’s passing game.
