| Summary |
What looked in September to be a very promising season turned out to be the complete opposite by the time May 07 came around.
Starting with a squad of around 20 players the team started the pre-season matches with 3 wins and a defeat, prior to the start of the league season. The team ended September on 1 point from their first 3 League games and progression into the 3rd round of the League Cup. At this point the Reserves had a new manager in Steve Thomas who took the reigns until his sudden departure at the end of March 07.
The team then lost several key players for different reasons throughout the autumn and this reflected in the results. Most of the games seemed to always be close but losing by the odd goal seemed to become a habit. There were highlights with very good wins away at Ryan and home to Shenfield but this was not going to be enough if they were to retain their Division 1 status.
Christmas came and went with everyone trying their utmost to turn the corner, credit to all the players who still turned up for training and still enjoying their football as a team on and off the pitch. They reached quarterfinal of the League cup going out to Manford Way in extra time.
We were now into March with the team staring relegation in the face but there was always the effort and commitment on match days. After the final run in of results the team were relegated to Reserve Division 2 next season.
Many thanks to all the players who played for the Reserves last season; we start again in July with Lee Walker talking on the Reserve Manager position. I am sure the committee have found the right man to take the reserves forward, with new players new ideas and bring the team back where they belong- back into Reserve Division 1.
